Description
Welfen und Staufer is a game of medieval politics and conquest, where two players take on the roles of influential noble families in 12th century Germany. The goal is to get one of your family members crowned king, and later kaiser, by winning over the support of other German nobles. This can be achieved through a combination of strategic area movement, dice rolling, and clever voting. The game takes place on a beautifully illustrated map of medieval Germany, France, and Italy, complete with historically accurate coat of arms represented by wooden tokens. With a playtime of 180 minutes, Welfen und Staufer is a game that requires strategy and skill, but is still accessible to players familiar with board games due to its normal complexity rules. Designed by Gerhard H. Kuhlmann and first published in 1990, this game is a classic take on medieval politics and warfare.
