Description
Pensacola is a game of strategy and skill, set during the American Revolutionary War, where two players take on the roles of the Spanish and British armies. The Spanish player must navigate the challenges of building siege gun redoubts while protecting their soldiers from British raids, all in an effort to mount an effective bombardment. Meanwhile, the British player, with their smaller but more agile forces, must use special raiding rules to harass and erode Spanish morale, while delaying the construction of Spanish siege works. As the game begins, the Spanish player's army of 5,000 must run the gauntlet of the Red Cliffs Fort guns, resulting in a unique starting force for each game. The Spanish player must then make tough decisions about how to allocate their resources, whether to take out the Red Cliffs Fort or start building siege works. The British player, on the other hand, must employ aggressive and often risky tactics to slow down the Spanish and wear down their morale. With its complex gameplay and historical setting, Pensacola is a game that will challenge and engage players for hours, with a typical playtime of 360 minutes. Designed by Mark Miklos and Don Hanle, this 2010 game is a must-play for fans of wargames and the Age of Reason.
