Description

In Retropolis, you're the mayor of a burgeoning city in the midst of the Industrial Revolution, and your goal is to transform it into a thriving hub of industry. To achieve this, you'll need to develop your city by introducing factories and railroads, all while securing the coal necessary to fuel the steam engines that power these technological advancements. The game is designed for 3 to 4 players and typically takes around 45 to 60 minutes to play, making it a great option for a fun and engaging game night. With rules of normal complexity, players familiar with board games will have no trouble learning and diving into the world of Retropolis. As you play, you'll participate in auctions to acquire tiles that will be added to your city, overlapping existing tiles in a strategic bid for dominance. But here's the twist - instead of bidding with money, you'll bid with the number of squares of your existing city that you're willing to cover with the new tile. This unique mechanic requires careful planning, as some squares will be worth more points at the end of the game if they remain uncovered. With the guidance of renowned game designer Masaki Suga, Retropolis offers a fresh take on the industry and manufacturing genre, challenging you to balance expansion with resource management and strategic tile placement. Will you succeed in creating the world's greatest industrial city and cement your legacy as its mayor?
