Description
In Dynasty: The Era of the Five Dynasties, 3 to 4 players are transported to tenth century China, where they must navigate the complex web of power politics and military struggles. One player starts as the Emperor, tasked with defending the realm and maintaining the Mandate of Heaven, while the others play as provincial governors seeking to overthrow them and take the throne for themselves. As players take turns, they can engage in military expansion, army building, tax collection, and event card play, all while dealing with the challenges of petty warlords, rebellions, and natural disasters. The game's unique twist is that the Emperor has a distinct set of actions and turn structure, which changes when they are overthrown and become a governor. With simple rules and a playtime of 150 to 180 minutes, Dynasty offers a thrilling experience of negotiation, territory building, and strategy, where the player with the most Victory Points ultimately wins.
