Description
Batavia is a game that drops you into the midst of the golden age of the East India companies, where you'll take on the role of a merchant visiting trading posts across Asia. The goal is to get your hands on the most lucrative goods by traveling to the right posts, which requires securing the corresponding ship card through a unique auction system. In this system, the highest bidder wins all the cards but has to split the payment equally among the other players, making every turn a strategic and potentially lucrative opportunity. As you navigate the game, which typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes and is easy to learn, you'll collect sets of goods and manage your stock holdings to maximize your wealth. With its blend of auction, set collection, and stock holding mechanics, Batavia offers a fun and challenging experience for 3 to 5 players, with no need to worry about language barriers since there's no necessary in-game text.
