Description
In La Venise du Nord, you're a wealthy bourgeois living in 15th century Bruges, where you control a prestigious neighborhood and make decisions to build your wealth. You'll establish craftsmen to produce luxury goods like lace, clothes, and jewelry, and then decide whether to sell them locally or export them through the city's harbors. As you navigate the game, you'll also have the opportunity to hire builders and architects to construct beautiful bridges over the canals, adding to the city's charm and your own prestige. The game is played over 60 minutes, and with its modular board, no two games are ever the same. On each turn, you'll roll two dice, using one to move your pawn and the other to activate the tile you land on, which will give you a unique power or ability. With three different commodities to produce and prices that fluctuate based on supply and demand, you'll need to plan carefully and make strategic decisions about when to buy and sell. The game's normal complexity makes it easy to learn for experienced board game players, and the combination of commodity speculation, dice rolling, and modular board mechanics ensures a fun and challenging experience for 2 to 4 players.
