LUCRE is a fast-paced trick-taking card game designed by John Clowdus, where four players take on the role of a nameless Guild, all vying for one thing: coins. With incredibly simple rules that can be explained in no time, you'll be diving into the action right away. Each player controls their own Guild, playing cards from their unique deck in an attempt to accumulate more coins than their opponents. The cards themselves are clever, with values ranging from 1 to 13 and worth anywhere from 1 to 3 coins, and even the backs of the cards hold value, each containing 1 coin. What makes LUCRE particularly exciting is the element of unpredictability. At the start of each game, 8 Purse cards are randomly seeded from each player's Guild deck, ensuring that every game is different. The combination of Guild cards and Purse cards available to each player will be unique, keeping you on your toes as you adapt your strategy. With a playtime that flies by, you'll be engaged in a thrilling competition that spans 8 rounds. The goal is straightforward: by the end of those rounds, the player who has amassed the most coins will be declared the winner.
