Description

Kutuzov is a card-driven game of sweeping maneuvers, epic battles, and crucial troop morale, set during the Napoleonic Wars. Players take on the roles of the French and Russian armies, navigating the challenges of the 1812 campaign. With 2 to 4 players, the game can be completed in one sitting, lasting around 360 minutes. The rules are of normal complexity, making it accessible to those familiar with board games. As players engage in area movement and campaign-driven gameplay, they must contend with Cossack raiders, Polish Lancers, and the harsh Russian environment, including the infamous General Winter. The game comes with a range of scenarios, including a campaign game that can last one to four turns, as well as alternative start scenarios that allow players to begin at different points in the campaign. Players can choose to play as the French or Russian armies, or even take on unique roles, such as controlling one power from each side. With 110 cards driving the game, including quotes from actual participants, each playthrough is unique and immersive. The game's designers, Mark McLaughlin and Fred Schachter, have crafted an engaging and challenging experience that recreates the epic struggles of the Napoleonic Wars, making Kutuzov a must-play for fans of historical wargames.
