Description

Decision: Iraq is a game that drops you into the midst of one of the most complex conflicts of the 21st century. Published in 2013 and designed by Joseph Miranda, this game puts you in the shoes of either the Insurgents or the Counterinsurgents, vying for control of Iraq in the aftermath of the US-led invasion in 2003. As a player, you'll navigate the challenges of modern warfare, from guerrilla tactics to conventional battles, using a combination of Area Majority / Influence and Point to Point Movement mechanics to outmaneuver your opponent. The game is designed for 1 to 2 players, and with a playtime of 240 minutes, you'll have plenty of time to immerse yourself in the world of Decision: Iraq. Despite its complex subject matter, the rules are easy to learn, making it accessible to new players. As you play, you'll move your pieces across the large 22x34" map, engaging in conflicts and trying to destroy enemy forces. But here's the twist: your units' effectiveness can change over time, increasing or decreasing as they gain experience or become demoralized. This unique feature adds a layer of realism to the game, making each battle feel dynamic and unpredictable. With 228 counters to keep track of, you'll need to stay focused and adapt your strategy on the fly. As you delve into the world of Decision: Iraq, you'll experience the nuances of modern warfare firsthand. Will you play as the Insurgents, trying to seize control of Iraq and outmaneuver the Counterinsurgents? Or will you take on the role of the Counterinsurgents, working to restore stability to a democratic Iraq and defeat Al Qaeda elements? Either way, you'll be in for a challenging and engaging experience that's sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. So gather your strategy and get ready to make your decision – the fate of Iraq is in your hands.
