Description
In the ancient world of Mesopotamia, the Assyrian Empire is on the brink of collapse, threatened by neighboring kingdoms and minor states refusing to pay tribute. As the Assyrian King, you must navigate the complexities of war and diplomacy to maintain your empire, or as one of the opposing forces, such as Babylonia, Mede, Elam, or Egypt, you must work to free the world from Assyrian tyranny. With 2 to 5 players, Assyrian Wars is a game of strategy and skill, where temporary alliances can be formed and broken, and conflicting trade interests can lead to minor conflicts. The game is set over a period of 117 years, from 722 to 605 BC, and each game turn represents the ruler period of one Assyrian King. With 66 cities to conquer, including the heavily fortified cities of Samaria and Babylon, players must master the art of siege warfare, using techniques such as rams, towers, and undermining city walls. The game mechanics, including campaign and battle card driven gameplay, dice rolling, and point to point movement, add a layer of complexity and depth to the game, making it challenging and exciting for experienced players. With its intricate rules and multiple paths to victory, Assyrian Wars is a game that will keep you engaged for hours, with playtime lasting around 240 minutes.
