Description

Get ready for a purrfectly puzzling game with Cat in the Box, a trick-taking card game from Japan inspired by quantum mechanics. In this 30 to 45 minute game for 3 to 4 players, you'll play cards from your hand, but with a twist - the color of the card isn't determined until it's played, adding an element of unpredictability to the game. As you make bids on the number of tricks you'll win, you'll need to balance your strategy to avoid forming a paradox, which can end the round and incur penalties. As you lead with a card and declare its color, you'll need to think carefully about your next move, taking into account the values and colors of the cards that have been played. With easy-to-learn rules and a unique blend of hand management and predictive bidding, Cat in the Box is a game that will keep you on your toes and challenge you to think strategically. Will you be the player with the highest score at the end of the game, or will you get caught in a paradox and fall behind?
