Card Game
Description
In Up or Down?, a card game designed by Michael Kiesling and Wolfgang Kramer, you'll be building rows of cards in ascending or descending order, trying to group as many cards of the same color together as possible. The game is easy to learn, making it accessible to a wide range of players, and with a playtime of just 30 minutes, it's perfect for a quick game night with friends or family. Two to six players can join in on the fun, making it a great option for small or large groups. The game starts with each player being dealt a hand of three cards, and six cards are revealed and placed in a ring from low to high. The deck, which contains cards numbered 1-126, is adjusted based on the number of players, and the remaining cards are split into two piles, one face up and one face down, in the center of the ring. On each turn, you'll place a card from your hand between the surrounding numbers in the ring, and then take one of the cards surrounding your just-placed card to add to your display. You can have up to three rows in your display, and when you place a second card in a row, you'll need to decide whether the cards will be in ascending or descending order. If you can't or don't want to place a card in a row, you can discard the cards in that row and start a new one. As the game comes to a close, you'll score points for each row based on the number of cards in the row and the most common color in that row. You'll also get points for each card in your discard pile. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins. With its simple rules and fast-paced gameplay, Up or Down? is a great option for anyone looking for a fun and engaging card game. Published in 2024, this game is a great addition to any game collection, and its ease of learning makes it a great introduction to card games for new players.
