Description

Get ready to experience one of the most pivotal battles in history with Berlin 1945, a two-player wargame that recreates the final days of World War II. Designed by Jose Antonio Rivero and published in 2022, this game puts you in the midst of the Battle of Berlin, where the Soviet army, with its overwhelming force, clashes with the depleted German forces in a desperate bid for control. With easy-to-learn rules, you'll be immersed in the action in no time, navigating the complexities of Area Majority, Influence, Area Movement, and more, all within a manageable 90 minutes of playtime. As the Soviet player, your goal is to reach the Reichstag, the German Headquarters, and defeat the defending troops by outnumbering them at least 2 to 1. Meanwhile, as the German player, you must defend the city and prevent the Soviet troops from taking over the Reichstag. The game is played over a map of Berlin, divided into 23 numbered zones, or districts, with Ground Zero at the center. You'll use counters to represent regiments or divisions, with each counter symbolizing between 3,000 to 10,000 men. The Soviet player has 34 red counters at their disposal, while the German player has 22 grey and 5 black counters, including the elite Waffen SS. Barricades can also be erected to hinder the enemy's advance, adding a extra layer of strategy to the game. The game's mechanics, including Area Majority, Influence, Area Movement, Campaign/Battle Card Driven, Events, Secret Unit Deployment, and Simulation, all come together to create a thrilling and immersive experience. With 50 event cards, 25 for each side, you'll need to adapt to changing circumstances and make tactical decisions to outmaneuver your opponent. Whether you're a history buff or a fan of strategy games, Berlin 1945 offers a unique and engaging experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat. So gather a friend, choose your side, and get ready to relive one of the most epic battles in history.
