Description

Carcassonne: The River is a fantastic expansion that adds a new twist to the classic Carcassonne game. With twelve river tiles, players get to experience a fresh take on the medieval landscape they know and love. The rules are still easy to learn, making it accessible to new players, while veterans of the game will appreciate the new challenges and opportunities that the river tiles bring. The expansion is designed for 2 to 5 players and can be played in 30 to 45 minutes, making it a great addition to game nights or casual gatherings. The river tiles are placed first, setting the stage for the rest of the game, and then the game continues as normal. One key thing to note is that followers can't be placed on the river, so the scoring remains the same as in the basic game. This expansion is part of the Carcassonne series, which has been delighting players since 2001 with its unique blend of city building, territory building, and area majority mechanics. Designed by Klaus-Jürgen Wrede and Rudolf Ross, Carcassonne: The River is a great way to mix things up and keep the game feeling new and exciting, and it's also a great introduction to the series for new players, with no necessary in-game text to worry about.
