Description

Court is a trick-taking game that adds a fresh twist to the classic formula, making it a must-try for fans of Spades, Euchre, or Hearts. With easy-to-learn rules, this 2022 game designed by Christopher Bouthner is perfect for 3 to 5 players looking for a fun and strategic experience. A typical game lasts between 20 to 45 minutes, making it an excellent choice for a quick game night with friends. In Court, players take turns playing cards into the "trick," with the highest card winning the trick and a crown worth negative points at the end of the game. However, there's a clever catch - the lowest card played in the trick gets to trigger its special power, which can be a game-changer if used at the right moment. As players navigate the game, they need to balance the power of winning tricks with the potential benefits of coming in last and triggering that special card power. Character cards add an extra layer of complexity, as they not only win the trick but also allow their player to use their unique power. After each trick, the winner distributes the played cards to the "Court" in front of each player, which serves as both a scoreboard and a hand for the next round. This mechanic adds a fun layer of strategy, as players must think ahead to the next round while trying to minimize their score. Random special objectives also come into play, offering rewards for specific card combinations in a player's Court, adding an extra level of challenge and excitement to the game. The game is played over three rounds, and the player with the lowest score at the end wins. With its unique blend of trick-taking, set collection, and team-based gameplay, Court offers a refreshing take on classic card games. The combination of special card powers, character cards, and random objectives creates a dynamic and engaging experience that will keep you on your toes. Whether you're a seasoned gamer or just looking for a new game to try with friends, Court is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a fun and challenging card game experience.
