Designed by Victor Catala and published in 2022, this game is perfect for 2 to 4 players looking for a challenging and immersive experience. With a playtime of 120 to 180 minutes, you'll have plenty of time to develop your strategy and outmaneuver your opponents. The game's normal complexity makes it easy for board game enthusiasts to learn, and its straightforward rules mean you can dive right in. As you take on the role of a major power, including Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Allies, or Russia, you'll have a limited number of actions to take each turn. You can move and attack with your armies, build trenches, conduct diplomacy with non-aligned countries, reinforce your troops, or secretly develop new technologies. Your goal is to earn the most victory points by controlling key areas on the map, and the player with the most points at the end of the game will be declared the winner. With its unique blend of action points and simulation mechanics, Downfall of Empires is a thrilling wargame that will keep you on the edge of your seat as you navigate the complexities of World War I.
