Get ready to dive into the world of Dragonbond: Lords of Vaala with the Epics of Valerna expansion, the latest addition to the series, published in 2024 by renowned game designers William Burgos and Rubén Hernández Santillán. This exciting expansion brings a whole new level of adventure to the base game, offering something for every kind of player. With simple rules that can be explained quickly, you can jump right into the action with 1 to 4 friends, and expect a thrilling playtime of 60 to 90 minutes. The game is all about strategic action, and with mechanics like action queues, contracts, and dice rolling, you'll need to stay on your toes to come out on top. One of the coolest features of Epics of Valerna is the introduction of narrative scenarios, which add a whole new layer of depth to the game. At the start of each playthrough, three random scenarios are revealed, each affecting different regions of the board and influencing the decisions you'll make throughout the game. As you progress, stage cards will trigger, bringing these scenarios to life and challenging you to adapt on the fly. But don't worry, you'll have plenty of tools at your disposal to tackle these challenges. The Epic Player boards, for example, let you customize your character's growth, granting bonuses and abilities that'll help you dominate the board. You can choose to focus on increasing your combat value, reducing the power needed to cast Vaala cards, or developing your General's skills - the choice is yours. With more miniatures, Denizen cards, and even a new creature to contend with, the Epics of Valerna expansion is the perfect way to breathe new life into your Dragonbond: Lords of Vaala experience. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, this expansion has something for everyone, and its simple rules make it easy to get started. So gather your friends, get ready for adventure, and experience the thrill of Dragonbond: Lords of Vaala like never before. With its unique blend of strategy, adventure, and fantasy, this game is sure to delight fans of the series and newcomers alike.
