Description

Get ready to experience the chaos and uncertainty of the early days of World War I with Guns of August, a game that drops you into the midst of one of history's most pivotal moments. Published in 2011, this game was designed by John Gorkowski and Grant Wylie, and it's a must-play for anyone interested in wargames or World War I. As a two-player game, you'll take on the role of either the French or German forces, maneuvering corps and divisions through a hexagon grid that spans the Western Front. The game mechanics are easy to learn, but don't let that fool you - the Chit-Pull System and Dice Rolling will keep you on your toes as you navigate the complexities of war. With a playtime of around 180 minutes, Guns of August is a game that will keep you engaged and invested in the outcome. The game's design encourages historically accurate play, while also leaving room for uncertainty and surprise. As you play, you'll feel the weight of Sir Edward Grey's famous words - "The lamps are going out all over Europe. We shall not see them lit again in our time" - as you struggle to outmaneuver your opponent and gain the upper hand. With optional rules for variable setup and fog of war counters, you'll want to play again and again to see how different strategies and decisions can change the course of the game. Whether you're a seasoned gamer or just looking for a new challenge, Guns of August is a game that's sure to deliver.
