Description

Holy Roman Empire: The Thirty-Years War is a game of politics and war set in 17th century Europe, where up to six players take on the roles of major dynasties vying for control of the Holy Roman Empire. The game is set in 1619, a time of great turmoil, with the emperor of Germany having just passed away and a rebellion brewing in the imperial province of Bohemia. Players must navigate the complex web of alliances and rivalries between Protestant and Catholic states, using a combination of military might, diplomatic intrigue, and bribery to gain the upper hand. As players field armies and navies, they'll need to balance short-term gains with long-term strategy, all while keeping an eye on the intricate dance of alliances and rivalries between the different factions. With a playtime of 60 to 300 minutes, Holy Roman Empire: The Thirty-Years War is a game that requires patience, strategic thinking, and a willingness to learn its complex rules. But for those who are up for the challenge, the game offers a rich and immersive experience that recreates one of the most pivotal moments in European history. Designed by Mark McLaughlin and first published in 2015, this game is a must-play for fans of pike and shot warfare, political intrigue, and wargaming.
