Description
Kaivai is a dynamic board game where 3 to 4 players take on the challenge of building and expanding their island region. The game's title, meaning "Water eaters" in Polynesian, sets the scene for a thrilling adventure of catching fish, trading for shells, and accumulating points. Players bid for turn order at the start, with the highest bidder getting to move first but paying a premium for new islands, while those who bid less pay less but have limited movement. As players navigate the game, they can choose from six different actions, with the first use being free but subsequent uses requiring payment that increases each time. The game's complexity and mix of mechanics, including action points, area movement, and auction/bidding, make for a engaging and challenging experience that spans 120 minutes. With its unique blend of city building, economic, and nautical elements, Kaivai offers a fun and immersive experience for players looking to test their strategic skills.
