Description

Overlord is a classic wargame that drops you into the midst of World War II, specifically the Allied invasion and breakout from the Normandy peninsula in Northwestern France. Published in 1973, this game has been a staple of the genre for decades, and its easy-to-learn rules make it accessible to new players. Designed by John Hill and Paul Richard "Rich" Banner, Overlord is a game of strategy and skill, where two players take on the roles of the Allies and Germans, each with their own unique objectives and challenges. As you play, you'll use dice rolling and a hexagon grid to navigate the battlefield, making tactical decisions and executing maneuvers to outmaneuver your opponent. The game is divided into distinct phases, each representing a month of the campaign, from the initial invasion to the eventual breakout. You can choose to play a complete campaign game, or focus on a specific period, such as the Cobra Breakout or the Battle of the Falaise Pocket. With a playtime of 180 minutes, Overlord is a substantial and immersive experience that will keep you engaged and invested in the outcome. Whether you're a history buff or a fan of strategic gameplay, Overlord is a game that will challenge and reward you.
