Description

Railways of Australia is an exciting expansion that brings a new level of challenge and complexity to your railway-building experience. Set in the late 19th century, the game is based on the real-life issue of inconsistent rail gauges across Australia, which means you'll have to navigate the headache of different train lines meeting up at stations and switching passengers and cargo. This break of gauge adds a fresh layer of strategy to the game, as you'll need to build your rail lines efficiently while also dealing with the obstacles of changing gauges. As you play with 2 to 6 friends, you'll need to use the pieces from the Railways of the World or Railways of Nippon base game, but don't worry if you're familiar with board games - the rules are of normal complexity and easy to learn. The game takes around 60 to 120 minutes to play, giving you plenty of time to get immersed in the world of railway-building. The large map features unique elements like towns, region borders, and rebound Railroad Operations cards, which add a new level of depth to the game. For example, when you build a town, it becomes a Gray New City on the map, and there are even special cards that can automatically build each of the 10 towns on the map. With the inclusion of junction track tiles and switch tokens, you can use the Switch Tracks mini expansion right out of the box, adding even more variety to your gameplay. The game designer, Randal Lloyd, has done a great job of creating an engaging and challenging experience that's perfect for fans of trains and transportation. As an expansion published in 2022, Railways of Australia is a great addition to the Rail Barons of the World series, and with its unique mechanics and features, it's sure to provide hours of fun and entertainment for you and your friends.
