Description

Ranka is a game that lives up to its "Easy Go" subtitle, with simple rules that are easy to learn, making it accessible to players of all skill levels. The game takes place on a hexagonal board divided into triangles, where two players take turns placing one triangular piece of their color on the board. The goal is to completely surround your opponent's pieces with your own, capturing them and removing them from play. The twist is that you can't immediately recreate a board position by playing into a space from which you were just captured, keeping the game exciting and strategic. What makes Ranka even more interesting is the inclusion of double-sided wall and meal pieces, which can be placed on the board before the game begins. These pieces can be used to capture opponent pieces or other wall and meal pieces, adding a new layer of strategy to the game. With two different playing areas on the double-sided board, players can choose to play on a smaller or larger board, affecting the length of the game, which can range from 15 to 27 minutes. Overall, Ranka is a fun and challenging abstract strategy game that's perfect for a quick but engaging gameplay experience, and its ease of learning makes it a great introduction to the genre, even for players who are new to abstract strategy games, since its publication in 2012.
