Description

Shaolia: Great Houses is an exciting expansion to the Shaolia: Warring States game, bringing a fresh wave of gameplay and mechanics to the table. Designed by Gunho Kim and published in 2021, this expansion is perfect for 1 to 4 players looking to dive deeper into the world of Shaolia. With a playtime of just 30 to 60 minutes and easy-to-learn rules, it's an excellent addition to the original game. The expansion introduces the concept of Great Houses, where players can purchase Noble House tiles using Quest cards they've earned, giving them access to unique abilities that can't be attacked or destroyed. The gameplay proceeds similarly to Shaolia: Warring States, but with the added twist of Noble House tiles and Quest cards. These new components work together seamlessly, allowing players to pursue new paths to victory. Quest cards can be completed by meeting specific requirements, and they can be used to purchase Noble House tiles or sold for gold. There are two types of Quest cards: ones that can be completed immediately and ones that require players to repeat a certain action several times. This adds a new layer of strategy to the game, as players must balance their goals with the need to complete quests and acquire Noble House tiles. In Shaolia: Great Houses, the goal is to be the first player to gain 18 culture, deal 12 damage to an opponent's palace, or complete a series of quests to emerge victorious. The game also introduces a solo mode, where players can battle a Boss, adding a new level of challenge and excitement. With its unique blend of dice rolling, card drafting, and worker placement mechanics, Shaolia: Great Houses offers a thrilling experience for fans of city building and fantasy games. Whether you're playing solo or with friends, this expansion is sure to bring a new level of depth and enjoyment to the Shaolia universe.
