Description

Under the Lily Banners is a tactical battle game that drops you into the midst of the Thirty Years War, a time known as the Dawn of Modern Warfare. Designed by Ben Hull, this game is part of the Musket & Pike Battles Series and features five battles where you can take on the role of famous captains like Louis de Bourbon, the Grand Condé, and Henri de la Tour, the vicomte de Turenne. With a unique blend of dice rolling, hexagon grid, and simulation mechanics, you'll need to coordinate the actions of your army's wings, each with its own commander and order, to emerge victorious. As you play through the five battles, including Rocroi 1643, Freiburg 1644, and Lens 1648, you'll experience the rise of the French Army and the clash of different military tactics and strategies. The game's complexity and depth make it a challenging and engaging experience, especially for fans of wargames and tactical battles. With its rich historical context and interactive gameplay, Under the Lily Banners is a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat, even after multiple plays. Originally published in 2005, this game has stood the test of time, and its nomination for the Charles S. Roberts awards is a testament to its enduring appeal.
