Description

Hierarchy: Emissary is a solo expansion for the popular game Hierarchy, designed by Mike Mullins and published in 2020. In this game, you play as an emissary sent to broker a peaceful transition between two warring noble families. Your goal is to play all 14 cards, ensuring a smooth and uneventful handover of power. With its simple rules and quick playtime of 20 to 30 minutes, Hierarchy: Emissary is an excellent choice for solo players looking for a challenge. The game comes with three double-sided Edict cards that give you special abilities to help you navigate the transition. You can discard an Edict card at any time to use its ability, as long as you can resolve the card. For example, you can return a card to the bottom of the deck if there are cards left to draw. The expansion also includes three alternate game cards - Impostor, Tower, and Surgeon - which can be swapped in for solo play, adding a fresh twist to the game. The game offers three levels of difficulty, with the Standard and Expert difficulties introducing an additional challenge after resolving an Edict card, where you must remove the bottom card in the line and place it on top of its deck, extending the game. With its abstract strategy and area majority mechanics, Hierarchy: Emissary requires careful planning and strategic thinking. The simple rules make it easy to learn, but the game still offers a satisfying challenge. If you're looking to enhance your gameplay experience, a sweet playmat is also available for solo play, although it's not required. Overall, Hierarchy: Emissary is a great addition to the Hierarchy series, offering a fun and engaging solo experience that's perfect for fans of card games and abstract strategy.
