Description
In The Last Spike, players work together to build a railway from St. Louis to Sacramento, but don't be fooled - it's every player for themselves when it comes to making money. With easy-to-learn rules, 2 to 6 players can join in on the fun, competing to accumulate the most cash from land speculation before the final spike is laid. Each player has a hand of track tiles, which they use to build the railway, paying costs and strategically placing tiles to gain deeds to cities. As players connect cities, they earn funds based on the number of deeds they hold, with payouts varying depending on the city's location and the track built. The game ends when a player creates a contiguous track from St. Louis to Sacramento, earning a $20,000 bonus and triggering a final deed payout. With a playtime of just 45 minutes, The Last Spike is a quick and exciting game of economic strategy and train-building fun, designed by Tom Dalgliesh and published in 2015.
