Description

Austerity is a solo game that puts you in the hot seat as the leader of a nation drowning in debt. With a playtime of just 10 to 20 minutes, you'll need to think fast and make tough decisions to keep your country afloat. The rules are easy to learn, but the challenges you'll face are very real. You'll have to decide how to allocate your limited resources, whether to invest in public institutions, crack down on welfare cheats, or borrow even more money to try and stay ahead. As you navigate the complexities of running a nation, the state of your finances will be represented by a bag of colored cubes, each corresponding to a different event or challenge. You'll draw cubes in pairs, and each pair will present you with a new decision to make, from funding police and private enterprise to raising taxes and managing debt. The twist is that you won't always know what the consequences of your decisions will be, adding an element of unpredictability to the game. With its unique blend of deck, bag, and pool building mechanics, Austerity is a thrilling and thought-provoking game that will keep you on the edge of your seat as you try to escape the burden of debt and keep your nation from going under.
