Description
Illumination is a game of medieval monks competing to become the new head of the Scriptorium by creating elaborate illuminations in manuscripts. Players take turns placing tiles in three books, collecting coins and ritual tokens to score points and perform special actions. As tiles are placed, conflicts arise between angels and demons, knights and dragons, and other opposing forces, which are resolved when bounded on all sides. With a playtime of 45 to 60 minutes, Illumination is a game of strategy and skill, designed by Alf Seegert and published in 2021. The game is suitable for 1 to 2 players and has a normal level of complexity, making it accessible to those familiar with board games. By collecting ritual tokens, winning battles, and placing tiles strategically, players can earn points and become the new master of the Scriptorium.
