Union Stockyards is a mid-weight economic euro game that drops you into the bustling world of Chicago's meatpacking industry during the Gilded Age. As one of the "Big Five" meat packers, you'll develop technologies to maximize profits while navigating labor unions and market manipulation. The game is driven by a supply and demand market that changes based on player decisions, adding a layer of strategy and unpredictability. You'll play over six years, with each year bringing new historical events and challenges. By constructing buildings, establishing branch houses, and improving your brand reputation, you'll build an engine to increase your profit margins and accumulate wealth. But beware, if you don't pay your workers enough, they may go on strike, disrupting your operations.
