Emergence Event is a competitive space exploration game where 2 to 4 players control their species' capital ship, each with unique strengths and abilities. Players explore the galaxy, seeking to control locations and gain resources, artifacts, and technology to face increasingly difficult encounters. As they progress, encounters become more rewarding, but the penalty for failure rises, and players must manage damage inflicted by their travels or fellow captains. The game features a modular board, offering great replayability and unique challenges each time. Players use six different skills, such as science, diplomacy, or tactics, to control individual locations, and can also brave open space or explore discoveries to uncover different stories.
