Description
Ratrace is a game of social climbing where you start with humble beginnings, $200 in the working class, and aim to rise to the middle class and eventually high society. With easy-to-learn rules, 2 to 6 players can compete to see who can make it to the top first. The game is all about navigating the challenges of life, from running a business and paying taxes, to getting an education and joining social clubs. You'll need to collect status symbols, which can be purchased using credit, but be careful not to accumulate too much debt, or you'll face bankruptcy and have to start all over again. As you progress through the game, you'll have the opportunity to acquire new status symbols, but you can only buy ones that are equal to or higher than your current social class. The goal is to retire with $100,000, but it won't be easy. You'll need to manage your finances carefully, taking advantage of payoff squares and windfall opportunities, while also navigating the risks of marriage and divorce. With its unique blend of auction, bidding, and roll-and-move mechanics, Ratrace is a game that will keep you on your toes. First published in 1967, this classic game has been challenging players for decades, and its themes of social climbing and economic strategy remain just as relevant today.
