Description

Casus Belli is a game of space exploration and conquest that takes you on a journey through a galaxy of politics, alliances, and war. A thousand years after humanity's colonization of the stars, the remnants of a once-great empire have given rise to four major factions, each driven by its own ideology. As you explore and settle the unknown reaches of space, you'll uncover ancient alien technologies that can be a blessing or a curse, potentially leading to corruption and conflict. As you navigate the complex web of intergalactic politics, you'll need to tread carefully, as some actions may increase tensions and lead to war. But don't worry, you won't be able to just attack your opponents outright - at least, not without a valid reason, known as a casus belli. This mechanic adds a layer of strategy and diplomacy to the game, as you'll need to form alliances, manage resources, and build your faction's influence to achieve victory. With a playtime of 60 to 180 minutes, you'll have plenty of time to immerse yourself in the game's rich sci-fi world and complex gameplay. Martin Wallace's design ensures that the rules are accessible to anyone familiar with board games, so you can dive right in and start exploring the galaxy. The game is semi-cooperative, meaning you'll need to work together with other players to some extent, but ultimately, each faction has its own goals and motivations. You'll be competing to build the most influential empire, and the game's multiple mechanics - including deck-building, network construction, and area control - will keep you on your toes. With its unique blend of politics, science fiction, and space exploration, Casus Belli offers a thrilling experience for 1 to 4 players. You'll need to balance cooperation and competition, all while navigating the intricate dance of alliances and rivalries that will determine the fate of humanity's future in space.
