Description

Power Grid: Middle East/South Africa is an exciting expansion for the popular Power Grid game, designed by Friedemann Friese and published in 2019. This expansion offers two new maps for 2 to 6 players to navigate, with a playtime of around 120 minutes. The game rules are of normal complexity, making it easy for board game enthusiasts to learn and dive into. The Middle East map throws players into a world where oil is abundant, but the threat of "peak oil" looms, forcing them to adapt and find alternative energy sources like nuclear power and recycling plastic waste. As players progress through the game, the abundance of oil and natural gas will eventually run dry, and they'll need to adjust their power plant mix to stay ahead. The South Africa map offers a different challenge, with a single trust dominating the energy supply, relying heavily on coal power plants, and supplying energy to half of the rest of Africa. With six international power connections and plenty of coal available, players will need to strategically manage their resources and build their network to succeed. With its engaging gameplay and realistic themes, Power Grid: Middle East/South Africa is a great addition to the Power Grid series, offering a fun and challenging experience for players familiar with the base game.
