Description

In Seljuk: Byzantium Besieged, 1068-1071, you're dropped into the midst of a medieval showdown between the Eastern Roman Empire and the ferocious Seljuk Turks. With the Seljuks ravaging border cities and launching yearly raids, the Eastern Romans must assemble a massive army to drive them back before it's too late. As a player, you'll take on the role of either the Eastern Romans or the Seljuk Turks, navigating the challenges of medieval logistics and maneuvering across Asia Minor. The game is designed for 1 to 2 players and can be played in as little as 60 minutes or as long as 360 minutes, depending on your level of strategy and engagement. The game's designer, Justin Fassino, has crafted an experience that's both historically rich and strategically deep, with asymmetric victory objectives and a dynamic system of cat and mouse between the two great powers. The Seljuks have the advantage of speed and ranged combat, while the Romans have heavily armored infantry and mounted units. But both sides must contend with the possibility of allied Lords switching sides, adding an extra layer of complexity to the game. With its normal complexity rules, Seljuk: Byzantium Besieged is accessible to fans of board games, and its unique blend of dice rolling and point-to-point movement makes for a thrilling experience. Will you lead the Seljuks to victory, or will you defend the Eastern Roman Empire against all odds?
