Get ready to embark on a thrilling adventure through the ancient lands of Mesozoic Europe, with the latest expansion to the popular Holotype series. Designed by Brett Harrison and Lex Terenchin, this 2024 release introduces a whole new continent of fascinating creatures, including dinosaurs, marine reptiles, and pterosaurs. With the addition of ancient crocs, represented by the new Specimen type of Crurotarsi, players will have even more opportunities to explore and discover. The game is designed for 2 to 5 players and can be played in 40 to 100 minutes, making it an exciting and challenging experience for board game enthusiasts. The expansion brings new mechanics to the table, including Focus Boards, Bone Beds, and new Milestones, which can be used with the European continent or combined with the original North American setting for even more variety. Focus Boards provide unique starting bonuses and small goals to complete during the game, while Bone Beds allow players to return to previously discovered locations to extract guaranteed fossils. With three new Milestones and variants added to the game, players will have plenty of opportunities to earn rewards and extra Victory Points. Note that the core Holotype: Mesozoic North America game is required to play this expansion, but with its normal complexity level, fans of the series will have no trouble diving right in and exploring the wonders of Mesozoic Europe.
