Description

Frondeurs et Frondeuses is a game of politics and intrigue set in 17th century France, a time of great turmoil known as the Fronde. Players take on the roles of one or more of the four key factions vying for power and influence, each with their own agenda and motivations. The Mazarinists seek to preserve the status quo, while the Cabalists, Retzists, and Condeans all want to overthrow the current regime and install themselves in positions of power. But amidst all the backroom deals and power struggles, the common folk are suffering under the weight of high taxes and endless war with Spain, and they're getting restless. As you navigate the complex web of alliances and rivalries, you'll need to use your action cards to place and remove influence cubes on the board, representing the connections between key people, places, and institutions. Having influence in the right locations can score you big points, but you'll need to balance your military and political priorities to come out on top. With the ability to arrest opponents, launch military campaigns, and even make a Royal Progress, the game is full of opportunities for clever play and cunning strategy. And with the presence of d'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers, as well as the cunning Cardinal Mazarin, you'll need to stay on your toes to outmaneuver your opponents. In Frondeurs et Frondeuses, 2 to 4 players can engage in this thrilling game of politics and intrigue, with playtime ranging from 120 to 240 minutes. Despite the complex historical setting, the game rules are surprisingly simple and easy to learn, making it accessible to new players. With its unique blend of area majority, card play, and hand management mechanics, this game is sure to appeal to fans of strategic gameplay and historical drama. Will you emerge victorious as the most influential faction, or will your opponents outmaneuver you and claim the spoils of power for themselves? There's only one way to find out.
