Description

Coast Watchers is a gripping board game that drops you into the midst of World War II's South Pacific theater, where Allied intelligence teams are locked in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse with Japanese security forces. As a player, you'll take on the role of either the Allies or the Japanese, each with your own set of objectives and challenges. The game features a unique blend of stealth, deduction, and strategy, as you navigate the treacherous landscape of hidden coastwatching stations, guerrillas, refugees, and stranded Allied crew members. The game's mechanics are designed to keep you on your toes, with a chit-pull system and hidden movement adding an element of surprise and tension to each turn. You'll need to use your wits to outmaneuver your opponent, whether it's by deploying secret units, managing action points, or uncovering hidden information. The game also includes a range of Mission cards that add variety and depth to the gameplay, with the Allies tasked with gathering intelligence and completing side missions, while the Japanese seek to build up their military readiness and carry out covert operations. With the help of Asset cards, which offer special abilities and potential victory points, you'll need to stay one step ahead of your opponent to emerge victorious. As a game designed by Volko Ruhnke, Coast Watchers offers a rich and immersive experience that's perfect for fans of wargames and espionage thrillers. With 15 standalone "Situations" and 4 campaigns to choose from, you'll have plenty of opportunities to test your skills and explore different scenarios, from the early Japanese incursion into the South Pacific to the eventual neutralization of their great base at Rabaul. And with a solitaire system included, you can even play alone, honing your skills and preparing for your next matchup against a human opponent. Whether you're playing with a friend or flying solo, Coast Watchers promises a thrilling and challenging experience that will keep you coming back for more.
