Description
If you're a fan of the Age of Steam series, you'll love this expansion, which takes you on a journey to 1830's Pennsylvania and Northern California. In the Pennsylvania scenario, you'll be transporting coal to power the industrial revolution, and you'll have the chance to earn special bonuses for delivering coal to key cities and towns. The map features coal-producing towns and cities in Western Pennsylvania, as well as heavily-urbanized cities in Southeastern Pennsylvania, making for a challenging and rewarding gameplay experience. With the ability to deliver coal twice as far as your locomotive or receive double income for its delivery, you'll need to strategize carefully to come out on top. In Northern California, you'll be navigating the San Francisco Bay Area, moving goods across the region to cities like San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento. This map features two bridges across the San Francisco Bay, a port city in Santa Cruz where goods line up for delivery, and a three-tile San Jose city with double goods growth. The city of Sacramento is a wild card, with its desired goods changing depending on the flow of goods into Santa Cruz. This map is a reworking of the popular Age of Steam: Bay Area map, with modified cities and towns and a slightly larger size to fit on a standard Age of Steam board. With its unique features and challenges, Northern California is a great addition to the Age of Steam series. This expansion is designed for 3 to 6 players and takes around 120 minutes to play, so be prepared to settle in for a fun and challenging gameplay experience. While the rules may take some time to learn, the payoff is well worth it. With its combination of auction, commodity speculation, network and route building, pick-up and deliver, and tile placement mechanics, this game has something for everyone. Whether you're a seasoned Age of Steam player or just looking for a new challenge, this expansion is a great choice. Designed by Ted Alspach, the creator of the original Age of Steam: Bay Area map, this expansion is a must-have for fans of the series.
