Description

Get ready to ride the waves with High Tide, a strategic stacking game designed by Marceline Leiman and published in 2024. This game is all about building and navigating a three-dimensional ocean landscape, where the goal is to have the most uncovered tiles by the end of the round. With simple rules that can be explained quickly, you and your opponent will be immersed in a game of area majority and influence, where every move counts. The game is played on a hexagon grid, which adds a unique twist to the traditional grid movement mechanic. As you play, you'll take turns moving one tile of your own color or a neutral color, with the aim of covering your opponent's tiles and uncovering your own. The catch is that each tile must stack onto another tile so that it's higher up than it was before, adding a fun and challenging element to the game. With 19 wooden hexagon tiles in play, including 7 tiles for each player and 5 neutral tiles, the possibilities are endless. In fact, with over six million different starting positions and millions more unique end states, you'll never play the same game twice. The game is quick to play, lasting anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, making it the perfect choice for a fun and competitive game night. As the rounds go on, the first player to win three rounds will be crowned the winner, so you'll need to stay focused and strategically plan your moves to outmaneuver your opponent. With its unique blend of abstract strategy, environmental, and nautical themes, High Tide is a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Whether you're a fan of territory building or pattern building, this game has something for everyone. So why not dive in and see what the tide brings?
