Description
In Pilgrim, you take on the role of an abbot or abbess in 14th century medieval times, seeking to build the best pilgrim routes and become the most devout and pious. You'll ordain serfs to become acolytes, give alms to the poor, and build essential annexes to support your abbey. The game features a unique twist on the mancala-movement mechanism, where you'll distribute your acolytes across eight duties and the capital city to determine each turn's action. As you play over 26 rounds, you'll develop trade routes and pilgrim trails on the map board, balancing your acolyte numbers across changing duties and tasks. With perfect information and no randomness, player interaction is intense and constant, requiring strategic thinking to become the next cardinal and win the game. Designed by Nick Case and published in 2022, Pilgrim offers a complex and engaging experience for 1 to 4 players, with playtime ranging from 60 to 150 minutes.
