Description

In City Blocks, you and your opponent are developers competing to build the most desirable city district, with the goal of earning the mayor's bonuses and ultimately a key to the city. The game is set in a 6 x 5 grid, with 11 named streets each offering a randomly assigned bonus of $1 to $15. With a hand of 5 Building tiles to choose from, you'll need to strategically place residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to outdo your opponent and claim the bonuses. The game is easy to learn, and with a playtime of just 15 minutes, you can quickly get started and begin building your city. As you build, you'll need to think carefully about how to use your tiles to maximum effect. Special tiles like parks, malls, power plants, and courthouses can throw a wrench into your opponent's plans, or help you gain an edge. For example, a park or mall can prevent industrial buildings from counting towards a bonus, while a courthouse can let you swap the bonuses of two streets. With the ability to build over existing blocks by discarding a Currency token, you'll need to balance short-term gains with long-term strategy. The player with the most money at the end of the game wins, and gets to take home the key to the city. Designed by Jeffrey Henning and published in 2013, City Blocks is a fun and challenging game of city building and strategic planning.
