Description

Iron and Oak is a game of ship-to-ship combat set during the American Civil War, where you get to command 70 famous ships of the era, including the Union's Onondaga and Confederate's Tennessee. The game is a tactical representation of naval warfare, with each ship accurately modeled for its offensive and defensive capabilities, as well as its maneuverability. You'll engage in close-range battles, using gunnery, ramming, and spar torpedoes to outmaneuver your opponent. The game features 14 scenarios, including historical and hypothetical engagements, such as the duel between the Alabama and the Kearsarge, which can be played in under an hour. As you play, you'll need to strategically allocate resources, repair and refit your ships, and make tactical decisions about when to employ hot shot or incendiary shells, or whether to rapid fire or maneuver and ram. The game includes a standalone campaign module, where you'll fight it out in a series of randomly generated battles, managing your forces and resources to emerge victorious. With its innovative game system and emphasis on quick action and tactical decision making, Iron and Oak offers a unique and exciting gaming experience. Whether you're playing solo or with a friend, you'll have the opportunity to rewrite history and determine the outcome of the battles, making each game a thrilling and unpredictable experience.
