Description

In a world where big regional powers are constantly vying for control, the threat of global conflict looms large. Defcon, a game designed by Carlo De Gregorio and released in 2023, drops you into the midst of this high-stakes struggle for domination. You'll take on the role of a leader seeking to consolidate power and emerge victorious, all while navigating the complex web of international relations. With a playing time of 60 to 90 minutes, you'll have to think strategically and make tough decisions quickly to outmaneuver your opponents. As you play, you'll engage in an arms race, using area movement and dice rolling to build up your military strength and gain support from public opinion. The goal is to achieve the highest position on the consensus index, which is made up of two separate rankings: the reputation index and the military index. It's a delicate balance to strike, as you'll need to weigh the benefits of military might against the need to maintain a positive reputation. With two to four players, Defcon is a game that's perfect for groups of friends or family who enjoy a challenge. The rules are easy to learn, so you can dive right in and start playing, even if you're new to modern warfare or wargames. As the game unfolds, you'll experience the thrill of competition and the satisfaction of outsmarting your opponents. Will you focus on building up your military, or try to win over public opinion? The choice is yours, and the outcome is far from certain. With its unique blend of strategy and unpredictability, Defcon is a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat. So gather your friends, choose your strategy, and get ready to compete for global domination. The world is waiting – will you be the one to claim it?
