Description
Root is a game of adventure and war where 2 to 4 players battle for control of a vast wilderness. Each player has unique capabilities and a different victory condition, making for a truly asymmetric design. The game is set in a fantasy world where animals are the main characters, and players must navigate the complexities of territory building, negotiation, and wargame strategies. In this 60 to 90 minute game, players take on the roles of different factions, including the Marquise de Cat, the Alliance, and the Eyrie, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. With the aid of multi-use cards and variable player powers, players drive the narrative and interact with each other in complex ways, creating a high level of replayability. Designed by Cole Wehrle and published in 2018, Root is a game that invites players to explore a fantastic world of animals, fantasy, and negotiation, and to decide which group will ultimately take root.
