Description
The Republic of Rome Remastered is a game of negotiation, power, and betrayal that lets you experience the epic 250 years of history between the First Punic War and the Civil War that followed the assassination of Julius Caesar. In this game, you'll lead a political faction made up of senators from the most prominent families in the Republic, competing against other players for government positions, economic concessions, control of the armies, and trying to attract new members to your faction. Your ultimate goal is to become the dominant political faction in Rome, but be warned - you'll have to balance serving the Republic with personal gain, all while navigating the complex web of alliances and rivalries. As you play, you'll have to contend with not only your fellow players but also the game itself, as Rome is constantly in danger. If wars are not managed properly, if discontent turns into popular revolt, or if the Republic goes bankrupt, all players will lose. But at the same time, you'll need to cooperate closely with other players to push through laws, manage internal politics, and preserve social peace. You'll need to compromise to attend to the recreational and religious needs of the people, purge the corrupt from office, and much more. With a wide range of mechanics, including auction, bribery, dice rolling, and negotiation, this game is a true test of your strategic and diplomatic skills. With 1 to 6 players, the game can take anywhere from 260 to 720 minutes to play, but don't worry - the rules are simple and can be explained quickly, so you can dive right in. This remastered edition of the game builds on the original, adding many new features that make it a fresh experience for both old and new players. With streamlined rules, a reworked graphic design, and new illustrations, the game is more immersive than ever. The addition of miniature busts to represent main political offices and a new Fate deck to balance Event results adds a new layer of depth to the game. Whether you're a seasoned player or new to the world of Rome, this game has something for everyone, and with new solitaire mode and improved bots for 2- and 3-player games on the way, you can enjoy it however you like. So gather your friends, choose your faction, and get ready to shape the destiny of Rome.
