Description
In Rebuilding Chicago, you're tasked with managing the growth and expansion of a major neighborhood after the devastating Great Chicago Fire of 1871. As the game designer Quinn Brander's 2025 release, this game offers a fresh take on city building, with simple rules that can be explained quickly, making it easy for 1 to 5 players to dive in and start playing. With a playtime of 60 to 120 minutes, you'll have plenty of time to develop your strategy and build your neighborhood from the ground up. Each round, your population will grow, and you'll have the opportunity to build new buildings, expand into suburbs, activate events, or construct landmarks, all while earning profit based on your neighborhood's commerce. As you build and expand, you'll need to think strategically about which building types to buy from the shared market and how to construct landmarks on the right tile combinations. The game's grid coverage and tile placement mechanics allow for uniquely shaped neighborhoods, and the ability to trigger citywide events can change the course of the game, offering points, money, and expansions to players who are ready. With the option to enact laws and compete against a solo player deck, you'll have plenty of opportunities to test your skills and build the best version of Chicago. The player with the most points at the end of the game, earned from building types, upgrades, landmarks, events, and remaining cash, will be declared the winner, making Rebuilding Chicago a fun and challenging game for city building fans.
