Description
Reef Encounter is a game all about thriving in a coral reef ecosystem. Players take on the challenge of growing different types of corals, using polyp tiles to build their underwater world. But it's not all about peaceful coexistence - players must also navigate the risks of other corals attacking theirs, and use their shrimp counters strategically to protect their territory. As players consume polyps from neighboring corals, they acquire valuable tiles that can be used to flip or lock coral tiles, determining the final value of their corals. With a playtime of 60 to 120 minutes, Reef Encounter is a game that requires some time to learn, but offers a rich and immersive experience for 2 to 4 players. Designed by Richard Breese, this 2004 game is a unique blend of area majority, commodity speculation, and tile placement mechanics, making it a standout in the world of board games.
